Kerry “2 Smooth” Marshall is an artist on the move. Undeniably known as a celebrated guitarist, producer, artist developer, and guitar instructor, his unique, innovative and signature sound is one that is sought after by many all over the country. This North Carolina native began learning guitar at an early age, and immediately began a quest to make a difference in the world of music. After relocating to Birmingham, Alabama at the age of 11, he rapidly became known as a phenomenon in the region. A driven perfectionist at heart, Kerry has been fine- tuning his craft for almost 20 years. His musical style is influenced by artists like Erick Walls, Tim Stewart, Kevin Wilson, Eddie “Spanky” Alford and Steve Vai, yet infused with his own individual touch. He has had the fortuity to be a facet on the entertainment scene with many artists.
Currently he is Lead Guitarist with the unparalleled group 5th Element Nation, Clinton Babers II, Calvin Richardson and Nurdy Tunes. His quest with Nurdy Tunes chronicled a high octave performance at the Strange Arrange Competition recently, which resulted in winning $10,000 in gear and a live recording session with the incomparable Musiq Soulchild.
The roster of performers he has graced the stage with is extensive and continues to grow, performing with legendary and rising star power artists like Sebastion Kole, Fantasia Barrino, Leon Timbo, Anthony Hamilton, Jill Scott and Tyrese, modestly stating …to name a few. He recently prepared for a life changing and career boosting opportunity, which afforded to him an audition for R and B star Ryan Leslie.
On Sundays, you will find him offering his talent in ministry at one of the largest churches in Birmingham, Alabama, The Worship Center Christian Church. There he has been connected to numerous gospel pioneers, ministers, artists and icons, including: Bishop Paul Morton, Bishop Kenneth Ulmer, Bishop T.D. Jakes, and Evangelist Beverly Crawford.
In addition to his vast experience, Kerry has traveled across the country, from California to New York, as well as across the seas to Germany and Italy embracing the audiences of the world with his gift. Kerry considers playing guitar a blessing and is constantly cultivating his gift, and his humble demeanor paves a path for constant recognition.
